The Walhalla Depot

The Walhalla Depot

In the early 1880’s a parcel of land was donated to the City of Walhalla for public use and a donated railroad ware house was moved to the site.  Plans were drawn up for renovation of the building so it would become a community meeting site and be available for civic clubs and the general public to use for gatherings, parties and celebrations.

Through the donations of many civic clubs and with the aid of grant money, the project was completed, named Kaufman Square and made available to the general public for rent.

The complex consists of the main building, a large gazebo with picnic tables, a cushioned walking trail and a decorative pond area.

The main building is for rent year round.  The cost is a minimum of $60.00 for 4 hours or $150.00 for all day.  The building contains a large open area with the ability to seat approximately 100 people and enough tables and chairs to accommodate them.  The maximum occupancy is 200.

There are separate restrooms for man and women and a handicap rest room off the kitchen.  The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator and double sinks.  There is a large rock fireplace equipped with gas logs.  The building is surrounded on three sides by a large deck.

The gazebo is also available for rent but has no restroom facilities available.  The gazebo is not rented when the depot building is rented for all day functions
